This lithograph dates from 1895, and depicts an important building from Burlingtons History; the Sewall House. The original drawing, from which this lithograph was made, is in the Burlington Archives in the Town Hall. This drawing was made in 1872 by an artist from Billerica, James Franklin Gilman.
The animation begins with a tight zoom of the fields which once lined Lexington Street. The image then pans over to show a home which still stands today: the Jotham Johnson House. As the image expands, it reveals a vision of Burlington quite alien to those who live here today.
All this in less than thirty seconds.
